Calculating the eV from your eCC Statement
Spending at Non-Partner Establishments
- You will generate approximately 1eV (1 US dollar sale) in eCosway for every RM 330 you spend on the card.
- During your first RM 2,500* worth of spending on the card (or for your first 6 months, whichever comes first), the Boosted Initial eV (Regular eV + Extra eV) from Non-Partner establishment transactions is approximately 0.9 eV per RM 100.
Spending at Partner Merchants
- If a Partner Merchant has given eCosway a 10% commission rate, you will generate approximately 2.7 eV for every RM 100 you spend. (If the commission rate is lower, the eV will be lower too).
- If you use the card at a Partner Merchant establishment during your first RM 2,500* worth of spending (or your first 6 months — whichever comes first), you get Extra eV on top of the Partner Merchant eV. This total is your Boosted Initial eV from Partner Merchant transactions.
The eV from your card spending will be automatically posted to your online office by the 15th of each month. However, if you want to see how it was calculated, or if you want to see how much eV you have earned as soon as you receive your statement, here’s how you do it:
-
First you need to figure out how much commission was given to eCosway from each of your transactions and how much of that commission gets converted to eV.
Keep in mind that eCC spending is in local currency and eV is always in US dollars.
August Billing Statement Trans Date Post Date Transaction Description Malaysian Ringgit 11/07

In the example above, you can see that Partner Merchant transactions have a four-digit number preceding the transaction description while non-partner transactions do not. These digits represent the commission rate given to eCosway. For example, 0300 represents a 3% commission to eCosway, 0500 represents 5%, and 1000 represents 10%.
For non-partner transactions (the ones with no four-digit numbers in front of them), the commission given to eCosway is 0.7%.
-
Group the transactions by commission rate in order to determine how much commission was given to eCosway.
There are 3 Non-Partner transactions:
Tenaga Nasional Berhad RM 186.40 Telekom Malaysia RM 213.30 Bytes Software RM 128.00 Total RM 527.70 At 0.7%, the commission given to eCosway is RM 3.69.
There are 3 Partner Merchant transactions at the 3% rate:
D’Voir Home Appliances RM 360.00 Tim’s Minimarket RM 55.00 Tim’s Minimarket RM 42.50 Total RM 457.50 At 3%, the commission given to eCosway is RM 13.73.
There is 1 Partner Merchant transaction at the 5% rate:
Marc Auto Accessories RM 475.00 At 5%, the commission given to eCosway is RM 23.75.
There are 2 Partner Merchant transactions at the 10% rate:
Sparkles Pet Store RM 115.70 Crystal Mines RM 920.00 Total RM 1035.70 At 10%, the commission given to eCosway is RM 103.57.
-
Now to figure out your share of the commissions.
As the cardholder, your share of the commission generated from non-Partner Merchant transactions is 100%. Your share of the commission generated from Partner Merchants is 60%. (The other 40% is split between the auction fund and the Business Owner who introduced the merchant).
-
Calculate eV for both Non-Partner and Partner Merchant transactions.
- First, take the commission paid to eCosway and multiply it by your share (100% or 60%).
- Then turn it into US dollars by dividing it by 3.7.
- Then divide the US dollar amount by 0.60 (because our plan pays out 60% on the eV)
- The resulting number is the eV you earn.
Here’s a sample computation from the statement above:
Transaction Value Commission Rate Card User's Portion Card User's Commission Exch. Rate to US$ Profit & Incentive Payout eV on Your Spending Your Total eV (to 1 decimal) A B C D = (A x B x C) E F = (D ÷ E ÷ F) 39.8 527.7 0.7% 100% 88.3209 3.7 60% 39.784 457.5 3.0% 60% 475 5.0% 60% 1035.7 10.0% 60% -
Add the Extra eV given during your first RM2,500 or 6 months (whichever comes first) to come up with your Boosted Initial eV. (Omit this step if you no longer qualify for Boosted initial eV.)
The Extra eV is computed at a rate of 1.4%.
Formula for calculation
-
Transaction value qualified for extra eV x the commission rate
-
Multiply this value by the user’s portion (100% for non-partner, 60% for partner)
-
Divide this value by 3.7 (to convert to US dollars)
-
Now divide this value by 0.60 (because our plan pays out 60%).
Here’s the computation for our sample statement (We are assuming that the total amount of RM2,495.90 qualifies for the extra eV.):
Transaction Value Commission Rate Card User's Portion Card User's Commission Exch. Rate to US$ Profit & Incentive Payout eV on Your Spending Your Total eV (to 1 decimal) A B C D = (A x B x C) E F = (D ÷ E ÷ F) 15.7 2495.90 1.4% 100% 34.9426 3.7 60% 15.739 Therefore, the total eV (Boosted Initial eV for both Non-Partner and Partner Merchant transactions) you would get for this statement would be 55.5 eV (39.80eV + 15.7 eV).
Once your RM2,500 or 6 months (whichever occurs earlier) is up, you can use this same guide but from Steps 1 to 4 only, to calculate your eV from your eCC spending.
Note: If you want to calculate eV, you need to start with the commission that needs to be paid. eV is calculated by converting the amount we want to pay out to the network into US dollars and then dividing by 0.60 (because our payout is 60%).
For example, if a sale generates a RM 6 commission for eCosway, you would start with RM 6, divide by 3.7 to get US $1.62, and then divide by 0.60 to get 2.7 eV. If you do the math backwards, you can see that when we start with 2.7 eV, the payout to the network is US $1.62 (60% of 2.7) which is RM 6.
eV is always in US dollars and is based on the margin given to eCosway from the merchant or supplier.
