  1. Can the Payment Card be used worldwide?
  2. Is the Payment Card compatible with all credit card terminals?
  3. Can the Payment Card be used to make installment payments?

  6. If I'm making a purchase, will my Payment Card transaction go through if I do not have enough money in my Payment Card account?

  10. I would like to make a few card transactions at a single outlet and I have enough balance in my Payment Card account. Can I use my Payment Card for consecutive transactions at a single outlet?

Card Usage

  1. Can the Payment Card be used worldwide?
    Yes. The Payment Card can be used at any merchant that displays the MasterCard decal.

    Note: For currency conversion rate of overseas transactions, the rate is determined by the payment association i.e. MasterCard / Visa International. Alliance Bank will not impose any additional administration cost for currency conversion. Back to top

  2. Is the Payment Card compatible with all credit card terminals?
    Yes as long as they are electronic and not manual imprinters. Back to top
  3. Can the Payment Card be used to make installment payments?
    You can enjoy auto-billing (direct debit) facility e.g. to pay for current DiGi or Whoops! program, pay water and electricity bills, mobile phone bills, etc, as long as you have enough money in your payment card account. However, you will not be able to make interest-free installment payments because there is no credit facility given by the Bank. Therefore, you will not be able to use this card to buy a product on an interest-free installment plan. Back to top
  4. Can I use my Payment Card to perform withdrawals from the ATM?
    NO, this is not permissible due to a directive from Bank Negara. Back to top
  5. Can I use the Payment Card for online/internet purchases?

  6. If I'm making a purchase, will my Payment Card transaction go through if I do not have enough money in my Payment Card account?
    No, your card transaction will probably be rejected if the balance in your Payment Card account is insufficient even by 1 cent. You are advised to monitor the actual amount deposited and the amount used to avoid being charged overdrawn fees. You can always call Alliance Bank’s customer service to check your current available balance. Back to top
  7. Will the Payment Card incorporate fraud prevention measures similar to those of credit cards?
    Yes, the same fraud prevention measures safeguarding credit card us age apply to the Payment Card as the bank is acting as a trustee of the pre-paid amount. You are advised to notify the bank if you are going to make any transactions that are not in your regular expenditure pattern or might be regarded as potentially fraudulent. For example, if you are traveling for a holiday or a business trip that requires a lot of petrol top-ups, please give the bank prior notification that you will be using your card at various petrol stations during that time so that the bank does not reject or bar your transactions. Similarly, please notify the bank in advance if you are planning to use your card to purchase a high-priced item out of your ordinary spending pattern, or for consecutive transactions at a single outlet, or during your trip overseas.   8. Will I receive a monthly statement for my Payment Card transactions?
    Yes. Monthly statements will be sent to all eCosway Alliance Bank MasterCard Payment Cardholders on the 10th day of every month. Back to top

  10. I would like to make a few card transactions at a single outlet and I have enough balance in my Payment Card account. Can I use my Payment Card for consecutive transactions at a single outlet?
    You must inform the bank of your plans to make consecutive payment card charges at a single outlet. This is because as part of the Bank’s card fraud prevention measures, your card transaction will most likely be barred when you try to make consecutive transactions at a single outlet. You can avoid this by clearly informing them of your plans beforehand. Back to top
